Charles Anthony Gautreaux Sr. born July 20,1942 in Larose LA, departed this life on January 19, 2023, reuniting with his beloved bride Madeline (Maggie) Gautreaux. He is preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Lena Rose Gautreaux, his siblings Joyce Trepagnier, Raymond (Cynthia), Marie Guise (Lionel). He is survived by his brother Johnny, Jr. (Margie), his children Cheryl Gaillot (Martin), Patricia Chaisson (Lawrence), Maureen Chaisson (Charles), Bonnie Cannella (Greg), Charles, Jr. (Brandi), his beloved grandchildren, Kenneth (Mary), Lawrence Jr., Chip (Megan), Phil (Stephanie), Mallory, Chaise, Amanda (Parker), Hannah (Jonah), Kyle (Hannah), Avery, Aubrey, Baylie and Noah, and great grandchildren Landon, Lailah, Baylee Jeaux, Lawrence, III, and Parker Rose. Charles was a resident of Westwego, LA and a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church for 77 years. He attended OLPS through grammar school. He went on to St. Joseph Seminary then transferred to West Jefferson High School where he graduated in 1960. He served our country in the Navy as a Machinists Mate 2nd class. He worked for Avondale Shipyard for 42 years, retiring as Vice President of the Propulsion Systems on the Arco Contract. He was a devoted follower of Our Lord Jesus Christ, a member of the Knights of Columbus Monsignor Wynhoven 3091, a Eucharistic Minister, a recipient of the St. Louis IX Medallion, a member of the American Legion Post 202 Westwego, and VFW Post 6093 Westwego. He was our rock, our hero, our confidant, our wise advisor and best friend. He will forever be in our hearts. A Special Prayer Service with a brief visitation will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, 146 Fourth St. Westwego LA, on Thursday evening January 26 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation, on Friday January 27, will begin at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, with a mass to follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to OLPS for masses in memory of Charles will be appreciated. Arrangements by Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA.
