Charles Calvin Hogue was called home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2013 at the age of 85. Born in Oklahoma City, OK on Oct. 4, 1927, he attended school from K-12 in Oklahoma City. He joined the Army at age 17 during WWII and served in Japan. He made expert rifleman. After the war he got his BS degree in Geological Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, and was hired by Amoco Production Co. He worked as a Geophysicist for 36 years, eventually becoming Division Exploration Manager Offshore. After retirement, he consulted for Wainoco Oil Co. for a few years. He was happily married to the love of his life, Refa Nell Dixon for 62 years, and had 2 sons. Always a devoted Christian, he attended Oak Park Baptist Church in Algiers for 52 years, 25 of those years teaching Sunday School to 7th grade boys. He was an avid fisherman, runner, bird watcher, amateur astronomer, and general lover of nature. Most of all, to the very end, he was a loving and kind man. He will be sorely missed by his wife, Refa, son, Charlie and his wife, Laura, son, James, his wife, Julia, and six grandchildren, Jason, Ethan, Stephen, Amanda, Emily, and Katie. He is survived by two sisters, Wanda Price and Dona Hamilton and a brother Dr. LeRoy Hogue. Visitation will be held at Oak Park Baptist Church, Kabel Drive and Gen. Meyer in Algiers from 12 to 2 PM on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Services will follow at 2 PM. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery, on Whitney Ave. in Algiers. Mothe Funeral Home, Algiers, will be in charge of arrangements.
