Charles R. Johnson

MSG Charles R. Johnson USAF RET was called home by his Lord, whom he loved and trusted, on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the age of 79 to join Dolores, his wife of 59 years, who preceded him in death 12 weeks earlier. Father of Cheryl and Fred Monus, Charles Jr. and Rita Johnson, Beth and Barry Vincent, Arleen and Nick Kootsouradis. Son of the late George Johnson, Sr and Sarah Vogt Johnson. Brother of the late Dorothy, George Jr. and Emmett. Grandfather of Amanda, Jessica, Adam, Eric, Sarah, Zane, Charlie III, Melanie, Seth, Cade, Jill and Heather. Great Grandfather of Taylor, Kami and soon to arrive Luke. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Staff of Riverbend Nursing Home and Harmony Hospice for their love, care and compassion to Charles. A native of New Orleans and a resident of Belle Chasse, LA for most of his adult life. He served in Korea while enlisted in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Air Force Reserves. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6357 of Belle Chasse, LA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Highway 23, Belle Chasse, LA on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 11AM until 1PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the church on Wednesday at 1PM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Belle Chasse, LA in memory of Charles.
