Charles A. Richard, Sr., age 81, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012 at his residence in Marrero, LA. Beloved husband and dedicated father, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rena Belle Johnson Richard and three children: Craige A. Richard, of Marrero, LA; Charlotte A. Richard, of Marrero, LA; Charles A. Richard, Jr., of Greensboro, NC; and daughter-in-law Pam Richard, wife of his son, Deral L. Richard, of Runaway Bay, TX, who preceded him in death; and his sister, Alice J. Patterson, of Arlington, TX. Charles and Rena were blessed with nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Charles was born in El Paso, TX on December 6, 1930 and graduated from Landry Memorial High School in Lake Charles, LA in 1948. A hard worker, Charles retired after working as an industrial mechanic for 20 years at Cargill in Dimmitt, TX. He was an active member of the Kiwanis for 35 years and served as a past president of the Dimmitt Chapter. The Richard’s are parishioners at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Harvey, LA. Charles was actively involved in the parish as a member of the St. John Bosco Men’s Club. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11AM. Interment, Consolata Cemetery, Lake Charles, LA on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 2PM. Parlors will be open on Monday at 9AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charles’ name to Heart Hospice of Greater New Orleans. For funeral information, please call 504-366-4343.
