Charles Joseph Townsend, Sr.

Charles Joseph Townsend, Sr. passed away on December 18, 2012 at the age of 76. He was born on March 27, 1936 in Alton, Illinois. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 where he proudly served his country for 26 years. It was in the Navy that he found a love for travel that he shared with his family every chance he had. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Koontz Townsend; their six children, Tammy C. DuBuc (Clyde), Charles J. (Brandy), Marie A. Patron (Guy), Michael S. (Wendy), Robert C. (Pikky) and Chad A. (Maria). He is the loving grandfather of 23 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Charles is also survived by two brothers, Robert and Jim (Eva); Sisters-in-law, Reba (Ed) Martin and Barbara Steward and many many nieces and nephews. He will always be forever in our hearts. Charles was born in Illinois; lived on the Westbank for 21 years and retired in Alabama. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 11AM until 1PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1PM. Interment will take place in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
