Cheryl Morris Bailey, R.N.

Cheryl Morris Bailey, R.N., passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on October 2, 2024 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of the late James “Jim” Bailey. Loving mother of Erin Albanese (Michael) and Jill Bailey (Beau Bourgeois). Grandmother of Kathryn LaChute (Colin Wilborn), Marissa Ruiz (Hunter D’ Angelo), and Brenna Bailey (Raeanna Hartfield). Sister of Sally Lemieux (Gregory) and the late Sandra “Sandy” Powers (the late Dale). Daughter of the late Mary Kuchta Morris and Jack Morris. Aunt of Jennifer Powers, Adam Powers (Jess Legacy), Daniel Lemieux (Andrea), and Amy Daniere (Adam). Also survived by her canine companion “Frank”, along with many loving relatives and friends.

Cheryl attended Riverdale High School and graduated from West Jefferson High School, Class of 1965. She graduated from Charity School of Nursing in 1969 and “came with the bricks” at Meadowcrest Hospital in Gretna. She “wore many hats”, but Infection Control was her specialty. Her department and procedures were models for other hospitals. She was very proud of her team and accomplishments. Cheryl touched so many hearts and lives, that while her passing is sorrowful, her life and legacy will be celebrated.

Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 11 AM to 1:30 PM. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
