Christian Elmo Ott

March 17, 1953 — February 6, 2025

Terrytown

Christian Elmo Ott peacefully entered into eternal rest on February 6, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late David Ott, Sr. and Ethel Navarre Ott. A lifelong resident of south Louisiana, Christian's spirit was deeply rooted in the culture and community he adored. Notably passionate about all Louisiana sports teams—especially the Saints—his enthusiasm was infectious. Beyond sports, he relished discussing politics and had a unique gift for making those around him smile and laugh. He believed in doing his best. Whether he was cutting grass, picking up trash, or whatever job he was given to do, he did his best.

Chris was a familiar and comforting presence in his Terrytown neighborhood. His daily walks were more than just a routine; they were opportunities to engage with neighbors, sharing stories and laughter that brightened each day. He really loved and understood people and felt they were all equal, no matter how much or how little they had. He especially liked children and many of them learned things from him that wasn't taught in schools...things that were never forgotten. He was a true reflection of the God He loved and spoke with often.

He leaves behind his loving sisters, Catherine Ott Jones, Marie Ott Alexander, and Betty Ott Hoffman, along with numerous nieces and nephews who hold him dearly in their hearts. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Ott, Jr., his sister, Patricia Ott Hargis, brothers-in-law Charles Jones, Sr., John Alexander, Sr., and Kenneth Hoffman, Sr., and his sister-in-law, Claudette Smith Ott.

In celebration of his life, family, friends, and neighbors are invited to join together for a Memorial Visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gretna, LA, on Monday, February 17th. The visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by a heartfelt mass at 10:00 AM. Interment at Hook & Ladder Cemetery in Gretna will take place immediately after the mass.
