Christine Sturm Barcelona

November 3, 1943 — May 24, 2024

Marrero, LA

Surrounded by her family, Christine "Chris" Sturm Barcelona made the transition from paved streets to streets of gold to meet her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 24, 2024. She lived a full life until her last breath was taken.

She was born on November 3, 1943, in Mountain Home, Arkansas and was a native of Oakland, Arkansas. She resided in Marrero, Louisiana for most of her adult life. Her last years were spent in Loranger, Louisiana.

Christine was a domestic engineer, as she liked to call herself. As a talented painter and artist, she was able to provide beautiful, one-of-a-kind items throughout her home. As a gifted seamstress, her family were always styling. Her quilts were patiently hand sewn and given to others as a gifts love.

She was an active member of her church where she sang in the choir, mentored many with her wisdom including teaching Sunday School and Missionettes. Her love for the Lord was evident in everything she did. Her lessons did not stop at the church door as she raised her children in the love of the Lord. Lessons were taught from the kitchen, sewing room, and even the grocery store as she always had a God perspective.

She was a firecracker with quick wit, a strong since of humor, and she was fast thinking. She loved to joke and spar with anyone who could take it and also dish it out. Because of her positive attitude, she was beloved by her doctors and the nursing staff. They all commented on how sweet she was, and that she had a smile no matter what.

Gail Barnes and Christine were BFFs for 50+ years. They enjoyed sharing the many memories of their adventures with anyone who would listen to their shenanigans. Laughter was heard when they were together.

Despite the many miles between them, Christine and her baby brother, Charles Quary, had many lengthy conversations about life, their deceased brothers, Ronnie Denton and Danny Denton and the joys of knowing Jesus.

Christine is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Salvador Barcelona and her grandson, Joshua Morozoff. She was the loving mother of Patricia Tranchina (James), Sally Barcelona, John Barcelona (Shannon), Antonio "Tony" Barcelona (Mary), Sheridan "Bentley" Barcelona (Alicia), and Michelle Barcelona. She was Granny to her "googies" Janee Gongora, Monique Denton, James Tranchina, Tyler Barcelona, Douglas Moody, Antonio “AJ” Barcelona, Jr., Jazmin Morozoff, Justin Barcelona, Salvador Ryan Barcelona, and Nicholas Alexie. She was proud of her 24 great-googies and 1 great-great-googie. Christine was looking forward to soon meeting her newest great-googie. Her tickle monster always came out when they were around.
