Claire Dorothy Mendoza

Claire Dorothy Mendoza entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the age of 94 years. Claire was born on October 23, 1922 in New Orleans, LA to the late Antonio Mendoza Sr. of New Orleans, LA and Claire Blanchard Mendoza of Plattenville, LA. Sister of June Lewis (Bobby), Gail Bruno (Lester), Sandra Bergeron (Eddie) and the late Elmo Mendoza (Jeanette), Irene Bourg (Junius), Mildred LeBlanc Lee (Ivy), Anthony “Buddy” Mendoza (Mona), Louise Bourke (Murphy), Rosemary English (Chuck), Malcolm “Key” Mendoza (Juanita), Leslie “Biggy” Mendoza (Gloria) and Al Mendoza (Vivian). God-mother of Cynthia Hebert, Troy Lewis, Shane Bergeron and aunt to a host of nieces and nephews.
Claire was a lifelong resident of Harvey, LA. She graduated after completing the 11th grade at Marrero High School. She went on to work as manager at Myers Department Store in Marrero for 25 years. After leaving Myers, she worked for Guaranty Bank & Trust Co. in Harvey until her retirement in 1987.
Claire was an avid Bowler for 40 years and could always be found bowling in her spare time. She was a lifelong parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marrero. She spent her Sunday’s cooking for her family and enjoying Sunday dinner. Claire will always be remembered for her kind heart, her love of laughter and her love of family. She will forever live on in our hearts.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
