Clara Belle Bourke Marmillion died peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2014 at the age of 99 years young. She was born on May 7, 1915 in Cut Off, Louisiana and was a long time resident of Harvey, Louisiana. Beloved wife of the late Alphonse Louis “Babe” Marmillion. Mother of Beverly M. Scioneaux (Earl), David A. Marmillion, Sr. (Suzann), and the late Marleen S. Marmillion.
Daughter of the late Lucretia Schouest Bourke and Martel Sebastian Bourke. Sister of the late Gladys Plaisance (Elix), Laura Mae Beck (Frank) and Murphy Bourke, Sr. (Louise). Grandmother of Kathrina S. Kaufman (David), Ashley M. Munn (Brandon), David A. Marmillion, Jr. (Shelly), Dana P. Pfister (Curtis) and the late Franz J. Scioneaux. She is survived by 11 great grandchildren. Clara retired from the Jefferson Parish Regulatory Board after 20 years of service. She was a long time member of St. Rosalie Church and its choir and was a recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion. In the early years of the parish, she produced and directed many church balls that raised money to support the church and later devoted her time and talents in the kitchen during the parish fairs. She was widowed early in life, and was devoted to her family and did a great job raising her three wonderful children. (LOL) The family would like to especially thank the staff and caregivers at Our Lady of Wisdom for the compassion shown Clara Belle during her stay.
Relatives, friends, members of St. Rosalie Altar Society, St. Rosalie Senior Choir, employees of Entergy, Bollinger Shipyards, Jefferson Parish School Board and Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center are invited to attend the visitation at St. Rosalie Catholic Church, 600 Second Ave, Harvey on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow. Christian burial will take place at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Ave., Gretna immediately following Mass.
