Clara Ledet Colvin

September 25, 1926 — April 29, 2015

Clara Ledet Colvin, age 88, passed away peacefully at the home of her son and daughter in law, David and Joni Colvin, on the morning of April 29th, 2015. Her family lovingly surrounded her. Clara was born in Grosse Tete, LA on September 25, 1926, was raised in Lafayette, LA and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. Preceding her in death are her parents, Marie and Junius Ledet and her siblings, Cleveland Ledet, Sister Mary Margaret Ledet, Charles Ledet, Celeste Ledet Smith, J.P. Ledet and Mamie Ledet. Her brother, Frank Ledet, survives her. Also preceded in death were her husband of 67 years, Ellis DeVonne Colvin, and her beautiful daughters, Beth Colvin Bealer and Diane Colvin Bays. Also surviving her in death are her children Donna Marie Colvin, David Colvin, Richard Colvin and Sandy Colvin. Her grandchildren, Rachel Colvin Bargas, Rebecca Colvin, Lauren Colvin, Jamie Bays, Amie Bealer Sanchez, Jennifer Bealer Gambrill, Bobby Bealer, Jr., Brandon Colvin, Dylan Colvin, Allyson Marinello, Julia Marinello, and Lily Grace Marinello also survive her, as well as six great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Clara was a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Algiers Irish Association. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember her as someone who loved each of them unconditionally, and taught them to embrace love, life and happiness, with much grace and humor. Her passion for the "Joie de Vivre" and family was an inspiration to everyone she touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Cletus Catholic Church, Claire Avenue, Gretna, LA on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 9:00 am until 11a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Lillian Academy, 8130 Kelwood Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. St. Lillian Academy is a school for children with exceptionalities. It was founded through the inspiration of her very special granddaughter, Lily Grace. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
