Cleophas "Lucky" LeBlanc

Cleophas Joseph “Lucky” LeBlanc passed away on October 29, 2011 at the age of 95 years. Beloved husband of the late Nathalie Chesnut LeBlanc. Father of Linda Blanchard (Ronnie), Janet Schulte (Ron), Cleo Raye LeBlanc, Peggy LeBlanc, Ruth Dollar (Kurt), Joseph LeBlanc (Amy), Raymond LeBlanc, Jeanne Garthwaite (Bruce) and the late Nathaniel LeBlanc. Survived by his “Special Angel”, Mildred “Millie” Fryou. Son of the late Jeanne Alonzo LeBlanc and Joisant LeBlanc. Brother of Eugene LeBlanc, Verlin Nielsen Trosclair, Milton LeBlanc (Shirley), the late Alfred LeBlanc, Roy LeBlanc and Robert LeBlanc. Also survived by 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He was a U.S.M.C. Reserve veteran serving with the 10th Battallion from 1933 to 1941, a member of the shipfitters union at Todd Johnson Shipyard during World War II, attended Tulane University and was maintenance supervisor for Louisiana Power & Light, Co., Middle South and Entergy, retiring in 1982. Lucky was a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the former Mary-Joseph Residence for the Elderly and was active in the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1905, St. Anthony Church Men’s Club, served as Lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Anthony, working with his late wife, Nathalie, was instrumental in starting the C.F.M. (Christian Family Movement) in St. Anthony Parish, was active in the Tulane University Booster Club (Ray Hester Club), Barbershop Chorus, Nucleus Group, Terrytown Golden Agers, Marvin Club, Senior Olympics, Gretna Food Bank and because of his experience, helped to form the Marrero Food Bank and was a lifelong bowler at the former Expressway Lanes. Lucky was the recipient of the Order of St. Louis Award, the “Best of the West” Award, Carol Scalise Award and could be seen in numerous newspaper articles and photographs making a difference in his community. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Friday, November 4, 2011 from 6 PM to 10 PM and Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 8 AM to 9:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gretna for 10 AM. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park. Donations in his memory can be made to the St. Anthony School Nathalie LeBlanc Memorial Scholarship Fund, Sisters Servants of Mary, Little Sisters of the Poor, Gretna Food Bank or the American Cancer Society.
