Cleta Mae Rooney Hodge

Cleta Mae Rooney Hodge entered peacefully into heaven on Saturday, June 2, 2012 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was 74 years old and was born on November 30, 1937 in Urania, LA. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Rush and Evie Lea Whitten Rooney. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Robert “R.T” Hodge, Jr. She leaves behind her loving daughters, Victoria “Vicki” Schneider and her husband Kevin Ladner and Dorothy “Dotti” Hodge and her husband Gerald Guidry, Sr. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, which include her only grandchild Jennifer Schneider and her partner Jason Acree and her only great grandchild Ethan James Bush. She leaves to mourn, her only sibling, her brother L.H. Rooney, Sr. and his partner Angie, her 4 nephews Tommy (Betty), L.H. Jr. (Sally), James (Patty) and Patrick (Amanda). She is also survived by her dear friend who helped care for her in her final days and was like a daughter to her, Lou Adams, and countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her and many of which thought of her as Mom, Grandmother or Aunt Cleta. She had a loving and unforgettable personality whose strong family values supported immediate and extended family in good times and bad. Everyone that walked into her home felt love. She loved listening to music, traveling, playing the slots, laughing and being with her beloved family and friends. Cleta touched the lives of so many people with her smile and generosity and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Cleta was an angel that we simply borrowed. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a Funeral Service in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 1 PM. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6PM until 9PM and Thursday from 8AM until 1PM.
