Clifford G. Smith, Sr.

December 2, 1931 — August 14, 2014

Clifford G. Smith Sr. passed away on August 14, 2014 at the age of 83 years. The son of the late Marie and Robert W. Smith. Clifford was born on December 2, 1931 in Hattiesburg. Beloved husband of Claudia Schluter Smith. Father of Clifford Smith Jr. (wife Carla), Christopher Smith (wife Lisa), and Julie S. Turpin (husband Eric). Grandfather of Alexandra, Justin, Brett, Nathaniel, Samantha and Brandon. Great-grandfather of Bryan Jr. Brother of Robert “Rusty” Smith Jr. and Cloyee Smith.
Clifford graduated from the Gulf Coast Military Academy in Gulfport and served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base as a surgical technician at the 3201st USAF Hospital. He later retired from Jefferson Parish after over 27 years of service at the Consolidated Waterworks where he was the water purification superintendent. He was a horse racing fan and enjoyed spending time at the Churchill Downs Finish Line in Gretna.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 10 AM to 11 AM.
