Danny O’Neal Birchfield of Gretna, LA on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 2:10 AM. Beloved husband of 40 years to Gwynn Mothe Birchfield. Father of Stacie B. Kern (Donald Jr.), Jeanelle E. Birchfield, and Jennifer B. Lance (Matthew). Grandfather of Donald III and Sydney Kern, Logan, Dylan, and Haley Hardouin, and Caleb and Chase Lance. Son of the late Mary Katherine Piland and O.C. Neil Birchfield. Brother of Janet McLaren and David R. Birchfield (Teri). Brother-in-law of Boyd L. Mothe and Corbett R. Mothe, and the late Marilyn M. Ward and E.J. Mothe III. Danny was a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War, longterm Westbank business owner, sponsor of Ducks Unlimited, coach for many years at Terrytown Gym, and superintendent for Westlawn Cemeteries for more than 20 years until his retirement. Danny always lived life openly and honestly, and always made a friend wherever he went. He loved his wife beyond measure and was always proud of his children. His greatest joys in his later life were all of his grandchildren; they truly were the lights of his life. Age 69 years, a native of Texas, a resident of Alaska for many years, and resident of Gretna, LA for the past 37 years. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 5 PM until 9 PM. Visitation will resume Saturday morning at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 400 Verret St. corner of Alix St., Algiers, LA from 9 AM until 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment will be at a later date in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. The family would like to express their deepest heartfelt appreciation to Dr. E.
