Darlene Trosclair Gauthreaux, born on February 16, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2025, at East Jefferson Hospital. She was a beloved figure in her family and community, known for her warmth, generosity, beautiful smile, and vibrant spirit. Darlene grew up in Harvey, Louisiana. She graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1965. She lived in Marrero for over 50 years and never met a stranger. She formed thousands of friendships over those years.

Darlene’s career was marked by her roles at Aurora Gardens Academy, the West Bank Religious Supply House, and as head custodian and event planner at Infant Jesus of Prague. She also lent her talents as an event planner for The Knights of Columbus Hall in Gretna. Darlene's dedication to her work was a testament to her strong work ethic and her desire to serve those around her.  

Darlene is survived by her children: Deana McDonald (Jimmy), Danny Gauthreaux (Paula), Donna Dasch (Denny), and Dawn Cadiere (Shane Sr.), as well as her grandchildren: Billy (Samantha) McDonald, Christy (Josh) Perrault, Jordan Gauthreaux, Dalton (Cara) Dasch, Dennis Dasch III, Kailey Cadiere, Shane Cadiere Jr. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren, Levi, Abby, Riley, and Grayson Perrault, and Oaklynn Gauthreaux. Darlene is further survived by her sister Glenda (Richard) Fredricks, Her many nieces and nephews, Sandy (Henry) Smith, Gerald Gauthreaux Jr., Tammy Gauthreaux, Albert Gauthreaux Jr (deceased), Chris (Soamony) Gauthreaux, Merrie (Don) Barrilleaux, Candy (David) Sheridan, and Shannon Roddy. 

Darlene was married for 40 wonderful years to her beloved husband, Dennis Paul Gauthreaux, who predeceased her, as well as her late mother, Shirley (Ralph) Karl Sikes, her father, Roland (Lillian) Trosclair Sr., her brother, Roland Trosclair Jr., and her god daughter Angel Ducote Cagle. Despite these losses, Darlene remained a beacon of love and light, inspiring all who knew her with her compassion and unwavering spirit.

In addition to her family, Darlene was actively involved in various community organizations, including Mary's Helpers, Triple H, Sixties Chicks/Sassy Seventies, the Widows Club, Jefferson Volunteers for Family & Community, and the Jefferson Parish Historical Society. Her commitment to her community mirrored her dedication to her faith, taking great pride in teaching Sunday school alongside her husband for many years.

Darlene's joyful personality was complemented by her hobbies, which included dancing, shopping for gifts for others, and exhibiting her creative eye for design. She possessed a sharp memory and was adept with numbers, all traits that made her a cherished companion and confidante to many. Her family fondly recalls the many cherished moments they shared, especially their valuable adventures on family trips.

Darlene’s life will be celebrated with a visitation at Visitation Of Our Lady Catholic Church in Marrero, Louisiana, on February 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Mass at 1:00 PM, and her burial will take place at Westlawn Memorial Park in Terrytown at 2:30 PM. As we remember Darlene Trosclair Gauthreaux, let us honor her memory by embracing the values she held dear: love for family, dedication to community, and an unwavering spirit of kindness.
