Mr. David John Smith

David John Smith, son of the late Charles Eugene Smith and Matilda Koester Smith , entered into eternal life and the arms of his Lord forever Saturday, November 1, 2014. He was 67. Husband of Joan McGittigan and devoted father of Patrick Smith, Shannon (Smith) D'Aquila, and Sean McGittigan. Father-in-law of Robert D'Aquila. Beloved grandfather "Dad" of Heather, James, Sean Jr.(Chuck), Ryan and Conor McGittigan and Colleen and Kathleen (his sweet Sissy) D'Aquila. Brother of Mary Thebeau and the late Sharon Karr, Allen and Tommy Smith. David was a native of St. Louis, MO; after his marriage he made New Orleans his home. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. David was a completely selfless man totally devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren. His three children, and seven grandchildren were to him, wealth beyond measure.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 12 PM. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until funeral time. Burial will be private.
