Mr. Davis Joseph “Pap” Hymel lost his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on March 31, 2016 at 8:27PM at the age of 67. A resident of Hahnville, LA where he is survived by his beloved wife of over 43 years, Cynthia Ockman Hymel. Beloved father of Ryan Hymel (Sheree) of Marrero, LA and Jared Hymel (Heidi) of Livingston, LA. Loving and Proud grandfather of Macie, Rylee, Abby and Alli Hymel, the sunshine of his life. Brother of John Hymel (Marilyn), Irma Zeringue (Ronald), and Anna Brady. Son-in-law of Mary Ockman. Brother-in-law of Butch, Edmond (Mary Lee) and Rickey Ockman. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Leona Bergeron Hymel; Father-in-law, Clifford Ockman and Brother-in-law, Ray Brady. Godfather of Lindsay Brady and Hailey Schmill. He was born November 7, 1948 in New Orleans, LA. He was a graduate of Hahnville High School, he served his country while enlisted in the United States Army and retired from Nalco Company in Garyville, LA. He was previously employed by Witco, Harahan, LA and Beker Industries in Taft, LA. Davis was a Parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Hahnville, LA. Special thanks to his oncologist, Dr. Tamma and his staff, The Ochsner Kenner Infusion Center and Harmony Hospice for their wonderful care given during his illness. He was an avid sports fan, especially Hahnville High School Football, the New Orleans Saints and LSU Football. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 1 Rectory Lane, Hahnville, LA on Monday, April 4, 2016 from 8:30AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on Monday at 11AM. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Mausoleum, Taft, LA.
