Debra Champagne Wenzel

Debra Champagne Wenzel entered into eternal rest peacefully on May 19, 2022 after a courageous battle with Pleural Mesothelioma. Beloved wife of Daniel Wenzel for 42 years. Loving mother of Jill Wenzel (Micah Siegel). Daughter of the late Doyca Hymel Champagne and Paul Champagne, Jr. Sister of Michael Champagne (Patsy). Aunt of Jason Champagne (Mary Jeni), Stephen Boudreaux, Ross Boudreaux, Rodney Boudreaux, and Nicole Blaze (Charlie). She will be deeply missed by her beloved dog Charlie. Age 66 years, a native of Gretna, and resident of Harvey, LA. Debbie spent her career of 40 plus years as a school accountant with Bridge City Elementary School, now known as Mildred S. Harris Elementary School until retirement. She continued to work with them until her recent diagnosis in 2021. Debbie enjoyed spending time riding bikes, beach trips, and spending time with her family. Her smile, charm and laughter will be deeply missed.

Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11 AM. Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM until mass time. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
