Dennis Robert Glaeser

January 12, 1942 — March 7, 2023

Dennis Robert Glaeser died peacefully on March 7, 2023, at the age of 81, in the presence of his loving family. A native of New Orleans, a city and its traditions he dearly loved, he was born on January 12, 1942, to the late Robert Alfred Glaeser and Elaine Jensen Glaeser. Dennis’s greatest wish is fulfilled, and he is reunited with his beloved wife, Linda Brooks Glaeser, who died in April, 2014. He is survived by his sons David Randolph Glaeser (Brenna), Donny Roy Glaeser (Betsy), and his daughter, Brandi Hill Calagna (Tony). He is also survived by his sisters, Pam Engle (Harold), Erin Mullen (Terry), and Robin Murphy; his grandchildren Abigail Katherine Glaeser, Luca Joseph Calagna, and step-grandchild, Faith Elizabeth Calagna, and a host of nieces and nephews. A graduate of John McDonogh High School, Dennis had a varied and interesting life. An Army Veteran during the Vietnam Era, he was honorably discharged in 1965. As an Army sergeant, he received the National Defense Service Medal. After discharge Dennis came home to New Orleans to raise his family and immerse himself in the traditions he loved. He worked at Dixie Brewery (8 years) and Cytec (30 years), from which he retired. He was a man of many interests and relished his membership in the Heavy Rollers Running Club and ran many marathons with the club in the 80’s and 90’s. Even after the members entered the “golden years,” they would meet in City Park to laugh and enjoy memories and their friendships. He was also a member of the Irish Channel Marching Club and celebrated that membership. As a sports fan, he was a season holder of LSU tickets for twenty seasons. One of Dennis’s greatest joys was to see and enjoy his grandchildren and step-grandchild as they grew up and reached many milestones. His face would light up when he saw them, and he valiantly attended as many celebrations as he could and looked forward to their visits. The family would like to extend its deepest appreciation to the house staff and nurses of Peristyle Residences, who cared for Dennis and the family with warmth and dedication, and to Hospice Specialists of Louisiana, who administered to Dennis as he transitioned into the end of his life. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 11am. Visitation will be held from 8:30am until 11am. Interment will be held privately at a later date. Family and friends may view and sign the online guest book at www.mothefunerals.com
