Diana Panting Bertacci

Diana Panting Bertacci passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Alfred L. Bertacci, Sr. Mother of Alfred Bertacci, Jr., Danny Bertacci, Sr. (Nita), and Gail B. Gilmore (Richard). Grandmother of Danny Bertacci, Jr. (Brandi), Ryan Gilmore, and Andrew Gilmore. Great-grandmother of Isabella and Sophia Bertacci. Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Panting of England. Sister of Margaret, Angela, Joyce, and the late Marie. Survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Age 77 years, a native Harefield, England, and very active resident of Terrytown, LA.
Diana was lovingly known by many as "Lady Di," "Annie Doll," and "the Boss." She was an avid daily gardener at home, always winning garden of the month awards, and at Christ the King Church where she was a very active parishioner. Because her eldest son Alfred Jr. is mentally disabled, she was passionate about working with local facilities and groups who provide care for the disabled and support for their families. She was a proud member of the Terrytown Lions Club, Terrytown Garden Club, Knights of Columbus Ladies Aux., American Legion, a volunteer for over 15 years with Belle Vie Nursing Home in Gretna, and recently St. Luke's Living Center in Algiers. She also enjoyed dancing and gambling at Boomtown with friends in her free time. Every Monday night for countless years, Diana held open prayer meetings in her home. Through this ministry she has touched many lives by listening, counseling without judgement, and as a result developed close lifelong relationships she so cherished. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church, 535 Deerfield Rd., Terrytown, LA on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 12 PM.
