Diana "Big D" Shaw Mares Navarrete

Diana “Big D” Shaw Mares Navarrete born April 26, 1944 passed into eternal rest on Saturday, December 15, 2012. A lifelong resident of Westwego, LA. She is the daughter of the late Vernice Ybarzabal Duet and Harrison Duet, Sr. Sister of Jerome Duet, Deborah Gros and Harriet Kirk. Survived by her four daughters, Dina Bordelon, Robin Mares, Julie Hebert and Ada Steg; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was a member of the Westwego Beautification Commission. She was a volunteer with the New Orleans Blues Society and Voo Doo Blues Krewe. Diana had a personality that allowed her to never meet a stranger. She was a very helpful and caring individual and she would never expect anything in return. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 6PM until 11PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 8AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11AM.
