Dolores McInnis Libby, born May 3, 1926 to James and Maudie Deal (Fox) McInnis in Buccatunna, Mississippi, went to her heavenly home on August 1, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard James Libby, Sr. Dolores married Howard on May 9, 1943 in New Orleans. Together for the next 52 years they raised eight children within their Roman Catholic faith producing a legacy of 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. Dolores' life was filled with challenges by overcoming life during The Great Depression, employment in a WWII factory building PBY aircraft as a teenager, birthing 6 children in 7 years, attending college to attain a teaching degree, and then teaching elementary school children. She attended John McDonough High School, Holy Cross College, and the University of New Orleans. She taught at Arden Cahill Academy, River Oaks Academy, and the Julius Rosenwald Elementary School. After retirement, Dolores volunteered at the National World War II Museum where she became identified with "Rosie the Riveter," an icon representing the women who had worked in factories and shipyards during WWII. This was a role that she enjoyed very much as it permitted her to remind others of the strength of character demonstrated by the women of that time, her time. Dolores was preceded in death by Howard in 1995, her son Howard, Jr. in 2015, her son Barry in 2019, followed by her daughter Cecilia Robbins in 2021. Her surviving children, Barbara (Jim) Sisk, Ricky Libby, Patrick (Geri) Libby, Mary (Rick) Cameron, and Maureen (Tim) Rooney, continue to remember her many blessings to their lives. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dolores's memory to the National World War II Museum is suggested. Visitation is to be held at Mothe Funeral Home at 7040 Lapalco Blvd. Marrero, Louisiana on November 12, 2022 at 9 a.m. with Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Internment will be at Abita Springs Cemetery in Abita Springs, Louisiana. Family and friends may view and sign the online guest book at
