Donald Wayne Banks

Donald Wayne Banks entered into eternal rest on October 15, 2022. Beloved husband of Edna Goodman Banks. Father of Manuel Banks III (Nicole), Donald W. Banks, Jr., and Anthony A. Banks. Grandfather of Brooklyn Banks, Gianna Humphrey, Samara Humphrey, Michiah Leeper, and Jeremiah Leper. Son of the late Manuel Banks Sr. and Goldie Mack Banks. Brother of Adelina Morris, Pamela Harris, and the late Virginia Banks, Helen McNaulty, and Manuel Banks, Jr. Age 71 years, a native of Lafayette, LA and resident of New Orleans, LA. Donald received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired in 1989 after 20 years as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the 2/6 Infantry, and recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Combat Infantry Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), Army Service Ribbon, M-16 Rifle Expert, Overseas Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Meritory Service Award and Marksmanship Award. Donald worked for the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office as a Sergeant until retirement in 2009. He was a faithful Mason and active member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Avondale, LA. He will be deeply missed by all.
