Donald R. Sperier

Donald R. Sperier passed away on September 12, 2024 at the age of 98. Beloved brother of Ronnie M. Sperier, Ray A. Sperier, the late Wesley J. Sperier, Gloria Sperier Mason, and Lucille Sperier Gould. Loving son of the late Alice Heidemann Sperier and Walter F. Sperier. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Donald is a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy and served as a Merchant Mariner during World War II. He later graduated from L.S.U. with his degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his career, he worked on projects with NASA and Rocketdyne and was a member of National Association of Mechanical Engineers. Donald was a devout Catholic and was active with Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Donald was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1724 for many years. He was also active with the Doll & Toy fund and his love of science also kept him active in the Astronomy Society. He touched so many lives during his years that while his passing is sorrowful, his life and legacy will be celebrated.

A visitation will be held at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Algiers Point, Louisiana on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 9 AM to 10:45 AM. Words of Remembrance will follow and his Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 11 AM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna.
