Dorothy VonSalzen Giardina

Dorothy Mildred Von Salzen Giardina at the age of 95 peacefully passed away at her home on December 10, 2024. She was born on August 4, 1929, in New Orleans, LA. She was the daughter of the late Conrad Adam Von Salzen and Mildred Dorothea Hellbach Von Salzen. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, John William Giardina and her daughter Pamela Jane Giardina Brown (Roland). Mother of John W. “Bill” Giardina, Jr. (Christi), Grandmother of Emily Paige Brown Fox (Michael) and Melissa Kaitlin Brown (Febian Hampsink) of Kennewick WA., and Megan Elise Giardina and Kelly Elizabeth Giardina Johnson (Shelby) of Gretna, LA. Great Grandmother of Wyatt Charles Johnson and Millie Elizabeth Johnson, and Lars Herman Hampsink and Torvi Jane Hampsink.

After her retirement from Dillard’s (D.H. Holmes), Dotty loved to travel with her husband, and she enjoyed all sorts of art. She had a green thumb and could get anything to grow. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attributes her long life to have the occasional Old Fashion.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date, and she will be interred in the Masonic cemetery in New Orleans with her Husband and her sister, Myrl. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. John Lutheran Church.
