Msgt Douglas C. O'Leal, U.S. Army (Ret)

MSGT Douglas C. “Doug” O’Leal, U.S. Army (Ret.) passed away on November 5, 2013 at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Thomas Balderas O’Leal; step-daughter, Rebecca Landry (Walter); grandson, Evan “The Boy” Landry, brother-in-law, George Ritterbusch; nephews, Al and George and his niece, Brenda. Preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Mary Gonzalves O’Leal and sister, Marlene Ritterbusch.
Doug retired from the Army after 22 years of dedicated service. He served in Japan during American Occupation, the Korean War and Vietnam War and earned many awards, decorations and citations, most notably the Bronze Star. He later worked for the Navy Civil Service where he retired as the Maintenance Control Director of Public Works. Following his retirement, he dedicated his time to his community, serving as an officer with the Belle Chasse Lions Club, the V.F.W. and N.A.R.F.E. (National Active and Retired Federal Employees).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 9 AM to 11 AM.
