Douglas L. Smith

Douglas “Doug” L. Smith was called to his eternal rest on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the age of 63. As the beloved and loving husband of 27 years to Catherine LaDart Smith and doting father of Alyssa Smith, Doug began life as son of the late William and Virginia Smith of Springfield, MO. His tenure in the ship building industry spanned 40+ years and included building vessels from Virginia to Louisiana. The highlight of his career was his service to Bollinger Shipyards in Lockport, LA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 6PM until 9Pm. In lieu of flowers, Masses and/or donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 98105-9959 will be appreciated.
