Earl J. Vedros, Sr.

Earl John Vedros, Sr. born on July 28, 1931 in Westwego, La. passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2013, at the age of 82 years. Beloved husband of 54 years to Patricia Tonglet Vedros. Devoted father of Earl John Vedros, Jr., (wife Patricia Tauzier Vedros) and deceased baby Mary. Loving grandfather of Katie, Christopher, and Kellie Vedros. Preceded in death by his parents Edna LeBlanc Vedros and Eddie Joseph Vedros; his brothers Severin and Edward Vedros. Survived by sisters Maude Carmouche and Geraldine Loyacano. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
Earl grew up in Bridge City, La., he attended Our Lady Of Prompt Succor Elementary School, St. Benedict’s Seminary High School, graduated from Westwego High School in 1950 and resided in Westwego for 54 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later retired from LP&L/Entergy Nine Mile Plant as a power plant operator.
He was very active in OLPS Parish as a lector, and Extraordinary Minster of Communion, past president of the Holy Name Society. He received the St. Louis Medallion from the Archdiocese of New Orleans, was a member/Past Grand Knight of Msgr. Peter M. H. Wynhoven K of C Council 3091 and was a member of the VFW Post 6793.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, La on Thursday September 19, 2013 from 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 146 4th St at Avenue A, Westwego for 1:00 PM Interment in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum.
