Edward Ronald DeLatte, 75, passed away surrounded by his three loving daughters on Tuesday January 2, 2014 from complications after surgery.
Born May 29, 1938 in New Orleans. Son of the late Edward Louis DeLatte, Jr. and Myrtle Lee Runnels DeLatte. Brother to the late Frank DeLatte and Gloria Talbot.
Devoted, loving husband of Margaret Valentine McDermott DeLatte for 54 years. Loving, caring, father of Maureen Cass (Paul), Michelle Charlie (Kevin) and Melissa DeLatte. Proud Grandad of Karen Danos (Charlie), Kelly Danos (Brandon), Courtney Marks (Blake), Jacob Charlie and Alissa DeLatte. Beloved Great-Grandad of Jared and Kenny Gisclair and Kyle and Kaleb Barr. Dearest friend of Mike, Janet, Christine, Ryan and Leah Tredinich.
A native New Orleanian and graduate of De La Salle High School, Class of 1956, “Ed” moved to Harvey, Westbank, in 1979. He was a member of St. Martha Church. Ed was a very warm, friendly man, always positive, loved people and loved life. His big, beautiful smile will be greatly missed. He enjoyed conversations with others and was a mentor to many. His pleasures were fishing, golfing, casinos, traveling, sports and cooking.
Ed enjoyed a successful lifelong business career in building and property management. He retired after 23 years of distinguished service as Senior Vice President of Property Management at Hibernia National Bank in 2005 where he managed 3.5 million square feet of building space across 3 states. He taught, mentored and practiced Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” At that time, he was a member of BOMA: Building Owners & Managers Association.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of His Life on Saturday, January 11, 2014.
