Elizabeth Vinet Whittington Makofsky

Elizabeth Vinet Whittington Makofsky, born October 6, 1922, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on October 12, 2011, having just celebrated her 89th birthday. . Daughter of the late Onezim Vinet and Elizabeth Elsworth Vinet. Miss Betty, as she was familiarly known, is survived by two children, Warren Davis Whittington, Jr. (Cynthia) of Gretna, LA and Betty Lee Carriere (Henry) of Mobile Al, as well as five grandchildren; Warren III, Westy, Aspen, John and Colin, twelve great-grandchildren. Betty was from Algiers, LA where she lived with her husband, the late Warren Davis Whittington, SrAfter his passing she married the late Herman T. Makofsky, and moved to Diamondhead, MS. She lived there for many years and was an active community member, most notably in the Diamondhead Baptist Church. She recently moved to Mobile, AL to be closer to her daughter, Betty Lee. Services will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Saturday, October 15, 2011. Visitation will be at 9 AM with services following at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
