Ella "Joann" Joan Gros

Ella “Joann” Joan Gros of Westwego, Louisiana passed into eternal rest on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the age of 69. Beloved wife to the late Floyd Anthony Gros, Sr. Loving mother to Melinda Hartman, Timothy Groom, Jr. (DeAnn), Sherry Tomeny (Zakai, Sr.) and Destiny Gros. She was grandmother to Marissa and Miranda Hartman, Zakai, Jr. and Shaelen Tomeny, and Dewayne Jr., Isabella and Gabriel Burch. She was daughter to the late Lillian McClellen Baker and James Arthur Baker of New Orleans, Louisiana. Joann is the sister of the late Jean Gillen of LaBelle, Florida and aunt of the late Laura White. She was Godmother to Anna Taylor and Stefanie Atwood. She is also survived by her nieces, Linda Korach, Liz Linebrink, Dawn Longnecker Stevens, Mark Messer, Ronald Longnecker, and Kristie White, and many cousins. Joann was self-employed and owner of the Hitching Post Lounge in Marrero for over 20 years. As per her wishes, no funeral services will be held. She requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
