Elliott "EJ" Joseph Arendt, Jr., at the age of 70, entered eternal rest on May 15, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a fight against cancer. He was born in Algiers, Louisiana on March 7, 1953 to Elliott J. Arendt Sr. and Mercedes Lassere Arendt. He is survived by his loving wife "my heart" Mary delCorral Arendt and his adoring children Jessica Arendt Bourg (Tray Bourg), Charlotte Arendt Despaux (Kelly Despaux), and George Curtis Arendt (Jessica Austin Arendt). Elliott also known as Paw Paw EJ was a proud grandfather of his nine grandchildren Ashleigh, Tyler, Samantha, Kaylee, Malik, Madison, Jacob, Makenzy, and Brooklyn. He was a caring sibling of Michele Gonzalez, Gerard Arendt, Kenny Arendt, Paul Arendt, and Ben Arendt. Elliott will be dearly missed by a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends. He was a lifetime resident of Algiers and a Veteran of the United States Navy Reserves. He was an outstanding and dedicated electrician for Cargill Inc. for 33 years and recently retired. EJ was a devoted and active member of the Catholic Church and faithfully served as a parishioner for Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He was passionate about helping others and enjoyed volunteering in anyway to help others.
Elliott was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed spending time with his family and dedicated himself to the Catholic faith and church. His true passion was watching his children and grandchildren play sports or do what they loved to do, whether it was cheer, gymnastics, soccer, football or whatever interest it was. His ultimate true passion was being surrounded with his loving family and friends. Elliott was unique and definitely irreplaceable, well respected and loved, and will deeply and dearly be missed by all who knew and loved him. The Arendt family expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care provided by Bethesda Medical Center and West Jefferson Hospital.
