Eloise Rita Melancon

Eloise Rita Melancon, beloved wife of the late Edward Morris Melancon, Sr. went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 09, 2015. She was 93 years old and a life-long resident of Harvey, Louisiana. She is survived by her three children: Patricia Martin (Charles), Edward Melancon, Jr. (MaryLouise), and Pauline Colomb (David). She is also survived by six grandchildren: Gina Perrin (Eddie), Angelle Martin, Jennifer Vicknair (Chris), Stephen Melancon (Lesley), David Colomb (Jenny), Scott Colomb and six great-grandchildren: Kristen Vicknair, Courtney Perrin, Jackson Vicknair, Eddie Perrin, III, Cameron Martin and Naomi Colomb. She was preceded in death by her parents Alidor and Ophelia Trosclair Orgeron, as well as her siblings, Octavia Blanchard, Edward Orgeron, Rene Orgeron, Gilbert Orgeron, Louis Orgeron, Bella Cazzetta, Egnolia Orme, Esta Leake and Alvin Orgeron. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. She will be greatly remembered and cherished as the greatest mother, loving and caring grandmother and great-grandmother and an excellent cook. She will be forever loved and missed. She received the Order of St. Louis Medallion for her work in the church. She was a life-long parishioner of St. Rosalie Church and served as church secretary for more than 37 years. She led the Rosary at daily Mass and the Saturday Vigil Mass for many years. She was a charter member of the St. Rosalie Altar Society/Women’s Club and attended retreat for many years at the Archdiocese of New Orleans Retreat House (formerly the Cenacle) in Metairie. The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of Woldenberg Village for their kind and compassionate care. Relatives and friends of the family, also members of the St. Rosalie Altar Society/Women’s Club, are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rosalie Church, 600 Second Avenue in Harvey on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 12:30PM. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Gretna, LA. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:00AM.
