Dr. Elwood J. Gonzales, Jr.

Dr. Elwood J. Gonzales, Jr., age 87 passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015. Beloved wife of 52 years to Rose Hargis Gonzales. Son of the late Elwood John Gonzales, Sr. and Sarah Vicari Gonzales. Father of Elwood J. Gonzales III (Casondra), Guy J. Gonzales (Ann), Eric H. Gonzales (Tina) and the late Lisa M. Gonzales. Grandfather of Kathleen, Emily, Alyssa, Andrew, Erica and Ryleigh (his twin grand daughters), Angelique, Courtney and the late Kaitlyn. Great Grandfather of Pablo and Lucia. Brother of Marie Gonzales. Dr. Gonzales is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Terrytown, LA. He was a Research Chemist for the US Department of Agriculture. He received his Bachelor’s Degree at Loyola University and his Master’s Degree and PhD at Tulane University. Dr. Elwood J. Gonzales, Jr. was a member of the Krewe of Mid City; he was a member of the American Chemical Society. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes Masses or donations to Christ the King Catholic Church, 535 Deerfield Road, Terrytown, LA. Dr. Gonzales’ visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Monday, March 30, 2015 from 9AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
