Emma Lois Lerille DiPascal

November 14, 1935 — August 9, 2023

Marrero

Emma Lois Lerille DiPascal reached the Heavenly Gates of our Lord comfortably surrounded by family on Wednesday August 9, 2023, at age 87. She passed away shortly after being diagnosed with a septic infection. Emma was the beloved wife of her High School sweet-heart Santo “Sonny” DiPascal for the past 68 years. Loving mother of Emma Lee Ann Rome (Barry) and Amy Marie Liberta (Jeffery). She was the proud Grandmother of Barry M. Rome, Jr. (Meagan) and overjoyed by her great grandchildren Delilah Emma, Nolan Drew and Sydney Grace Rome. Leaving behind Libby her faithful white lab, and her precious cats Fredricka and Phatt Boy. She is survived by her sister-in-law Antoniette "Nettie" DiPascal Blanchette, whose husband Steve "Boom-Boom" is deceased, and her brother-in-law Salvador "Sal" J. Gaspar, Jr. Countless cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of long-time friends. The only child of the late Gaston J. Lerille and Madonna Gisclair Lerille. She was raised with her Cajun family that was quite large. Daughter-in-law of the late Dominick and Lena Vicari DiPascal. Sister-in-law of the late Guy, Michael, Rosalie D. Gaspar and Anthony “Peter” DiPascal (Judy Rotolo). Emma was born on November 14, 1935, in Cut Off, LA, raised in Westwego, LA and resided in Marrero, LA since 1955. Working as a seamstress in the building of The Cotton Mill of New Orleans she honed her craft by sewing for herself and daughters at home. While her girls attended Immaculate Conception and Immacula High Schools, Emma’s generosity as a volunteer would take on many roles over the course of 25 plus years. The social butterfly she was would have her nominated Queen of Nefertari (WestBank) 1981. She was also a member of TOPS where she was 2001’s Queen of The Ball. Most recently a member of Marrero Chateau Dames. Known for her sewing talent she established herself as the go to mom for majorette and dancing school costumes. Dresses for high school dances, proms and eventually wedding dresses were all hand sewed. Expanding her expertise she was commissioned by several Mardi Gras Carnival Crews as their seamstress. Poseidon, Saturn, Nefertari, Morgan City and Zeus to name a few. Once retired Emma and Sonny were free to pack up the Suburban for wherever the open road would lead whenever their hearts desired. Devoted to her family and friends. Emma was the matriarch of our family, bright spirited, a wonderful listener, quick witted with a sense of humor. Emma loved life, loved people, loved pets and she was loved in return. She was definitely one of a kind, told it like it was and her honesty and sincerity made her a very special lady. Without a doubt Emma will be missed by all who knew her.
