Encarnacion E. Moya

Encarnacion E. Moya, affectionately known as Chon, was born on November 28, 1938, in Honduras. He lived a life rich in love and laughter before passing away peacefully in his home in Harvey, Louisiana, on the evening of November 19, 2024.

Chon made the journey to the United States to live with his sister, Sofia, where he found a new home filled with warmth and familial bonds. His life took a significant turn when he fell in love and married Mary P. Moya. Together they created a loving household that reflected their deep connection. Though Mary has now departed this earth, she and Chon will be reunited in Heaven, watching over their loved ones.

Throughout his life, Chon was known for his jovial spirit and zest for life. His career included commendable stints as a truck driver for Coca-Cola and Schwegmann, culminating in his retirement from Walmart. These roles not only provided for his family but also allowed him to connect with the community, leaving a lasting impact on those he met.

A vibrant personality, Chon cherished spending time with his family. He often visited his sisters, Sofia and Noemi, who would treat him like royalty, preparing delicious meals and serving him his favorite coffee. These gatherings were filled with joy and shared laughter, memories that he held dear. His visits with his brother "Netio" and the boys were especially treasured, often resulting in unforgettable moments of camaraderie.

Chon is survived by his loving sisters, including Sara, Noemi Rodriguez, Sofia Cardona, Margarita Moya, Dominga "Minga," and Isabela. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom he adored deeply. Family meant everything to Chon; his face would light up every time he shared stories about them, illustrating the profound love he had for his kin.

Chon was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lillie, and his brothers Nestor and Manuel, who will be welcomed into their family's embrace in the afterlife.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Chon's remarkable life during a visitation on November 27, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:45 PM at Mothe Funeral Homes, LLC, located at 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA 70058. A graveside service will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave., Terrytown, LA 70056, starting at 11:15 AM.

Chon Moya's legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, reminding us all to cherish our loved ones and embrace the joy found in everyday moments.
