Esta Davis Delaney died on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Baton Rouge General Hospital after suffering a massive stroke. She was 89 years old. Born in Ringgold, Louisiana, Esta moved to New Orleans in 1948 as a Charity Hospital nursing student where she met her husband, Albert. She was a resident of Waggaman, LA for the last 56 years. Survived by her children Albert S. Delaney, III (Emily); Catherine Shannon Patin (Don); Rebecca A. McCandless (Bob); David K. Delaney; Patrick J. Delaney; and Lauren E. Camardelle (Randy); seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Poley Davis and Lena Free Davis; her siblings; and her husband, Albert Sidney Delaney, Jr.; granddaughter Dane Erin McCandless; and daughter-in-law Karen Wyres Delaney (Patrick). Esta was a devout member of Our Lady of The Angels Catholic Church in Waggaman and will be greatly missed by many. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Brenda LeBlanc for the exceptional care and love she showed Esta during the last months of her journey with Alzheimer's. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of The Angels Catholic Church, 6851 River Road, Waggaman, at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 23. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Holy Angels Cemetery in Waggaman.
