Esther Claire Holland Michel

Esther Claire Holland Michel, born September 10, 1933, passed from this Earth into God’s Eternal Paradise on Saturday, July 30, 2016. She was the devout wife of her late husband, John Michel Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Edna Michel Bolotte, her son-in-law, Russell Bolotte, and their children, Rachel, Dustin, and Sarah Bolotte. She was the daughter of the late James B. Holland Sr. and Catherine (Kate) Holland and sister to the late James B. Holland, Jr., Mary Elizabeth (Sis) Hover, Alfred E. (Buddy) Holland, Parker Jerome Holland, and William Joseph (Joe) Holland. She is survived by her sister, Sarah (Sally) Vogel, her sisters-in-law, Jane Holland, Mamie Lois Holland, and Nell Holland, and her many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her brothers-in-law, Louis Michel (Maggie), Ronnie Michel (Mary), Cyril Michel (BJ), her sister-in-law, Melrose Michel Bauman, and many others.
Originally from Philadelphia, Mississippi, where she graduated from House High School in 1952, Mrs. Michel came to New Orleans in 1952, later moving to Gretna, Louisiana from 1979 until her passing. Mrs. Michel retired from the Metropolitan Developmental Center (formally Belle Chasse State School) in 1984 as a payroll supervisor. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, sewing, and attending mass at St. Joachim Catholic Church. She was and is loved by many and will be deeply missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 8 AM to 11 AM. A Memorial Mass will follow. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
