Ethel Mae Ibert Humphrey passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the age of 90 years old in New Orleans. Beloved wife of the late Hugh Eugene Humphrey Jr. for 52 years. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Ibert and the late Ethel Smith Ibert of Franklin, Louisiana. Loving mother of Elizabeth (Beth) H. Buchler (Harold A. Buchler Jr.); Hugh Eugene Humphrey III (Barbara); June M. Humphrey; Janice H. Ray (James D. Ray) and John I. Humphrey (Julie). Beloved grandmother of Harold A. Buchler III, Katherine F. Buchler, Mickael Humphrey, Nicholas Humphrey and Elise Humphrey. She was predeceased by her siblings, Henrietta I. Bierhorst, Meryl I. Strubb, Herbert Chris Ibert and Charles Ibert. Mae was active in many organizations including president of Ladies Leukemia League and Buena Vista Garden Club. She was an active member of the JoEllen Smith Auxiliary, Young Elders of St. Clement of Rome and Welcome Neighbors. She enjoyed playing bridge for many years with several card groups, even taking cruises with her hard core bridge group many times. Mae loved her family, her faith and her friends. She will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Mothe Funeral Homes, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Visitation at the funeral home from 11:00 am until funeral time. Interment St. Bartholomew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
