Eugene “Genie” Bourgeois, Sr. age 93 entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 30, 2013. Husband of Angelina “Angie” Shano Bourgeois for 67 years. Son of the late John Bourgeois and Julien Blanchard Bourgeois. Father of Eugene Bourgeois, Jr. and Sheila Bourgeois. Grandfather of Daphne Tsagournos, Katina Tsagournos and Torri Tasgournos (Cathy). Great Grandfather of Samuel Salas, Aliyah Salas, Dakota Blakely, Angelina Blakely, Sophia Schimmeck, Tessi Tsagournos and Nikki Tsagournos. Brother of the late Joseph Bourgeois, Berlie Bourgeois, Annette Sapia, Lina McDondald and Nilda Cobb. Survived by many nieces, nephews and godchildren, Jane'e, Rene'e, Latrisha, and so on. “Genie” was born in Assumption Parish and resided in Gretna, LA. He and his wife were avid bowlers and have won many bowling tournaments together. He proudly served in the United States Army. He defended his country while serving in World War II in the Battle of the Bulge. “Genie” would like to thank the Terrytown Golden Agers for the many great years and wonderful friendships. The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to Egan (Jennifer and Ethel) for their love and care. A visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
