Evans Phillip Brasset, Sr. passed away on August 31, 2013 at the age of 93 years. Beloved husband of Ruth Marie Brignac Brasset. Father of Evans Brasset, Jr. (Barbara), Sharon Marse (Leonard), Ruth Anne Melanson (Bobby Sr.) and the late Deborah Burkhart (Robert). Grandfather of Shannon, Amy, Todd, Alan, Nicholas, Bobby Jr., Paul, Abigail and Melissa. Survived by 10 great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Lutesia Cantrelle, Lena Brasset, Lucille Brasset, Delta Mathieu, Philomena Decareaux Guilbeau, Jeffery Brasset, Sr., Eugene Brasset, Margaret and George Brasset. Son of the late Nicholas and Edna Dugas Brasset.
Evans retired from Hunt-Wesson Foods and later worked for Visko’s Restaurant. He served his country in the Civilian Conservation Corps and U.S. Navy during World War II and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He served his Church as an usher for Infant Jesus of Prague Catholic Church and was presented with the Order of St. Louis Medallion for his devotion to his Church. He served his community as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1905, VFW, American Legion, Infant Jesus Golden Agers, Second Harvest Food Bank and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Assoc.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 10 AM to 1:30 PM.
