Evelyn Ehret Orgeron

Evelyn “Diddy” Ehret Orgeron entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. A life-long resident of Gretna, LA, Mrs. Orgeron was 91. Beloved wife of the late Norman C. Orgeron for 65 years. Cherished mother of Toni Orgeron Hollis (Darrell) and Jacquelyn Orgeron Majeste (Richard). Loving grandmother of Ashley Hollis, Alicia Majeste Crowell (Tim), Darrell D. Hollis, and Richard J. Majeste, Jr.. Adoring great- grandmother of Lauren Crowell and Heather Chaisson. Sister of Alvin Ehret (the late Letha Pares), Louis Ehret Jr. (Mary Lou), Helen Bach ( the late Eugene Bach, Jr.), and Ivy Ehret (Norma). Sister- in- law of the late Lynn and Elisa Orgeron and the late Aby and Ruth Barrios. Daughter of the late Louis V. Ehret and Elvine Prejean Ehret Burke. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Orgeron was a member of the St. Joseph’s Women’s Club and enjoyed working on the St. Joseph Altar for many years. She was also a past officer in the Gretna Sportsman Club Auxiliary. She resided for the past 3 years at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Algiers, LA, where she spent her final years with family and close friends by her side. The family extends their sincerest appreciation to the exceptional staff at St. Luke’s for their care and compassion for “Miss O”. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a memorial mass at St. Joseph Church Gretna, LA on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 10 am with visitation prior to the mass beginning at 9 o’ clock am. Interment will follow at Hook and Ladder Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Joseph Church, Gretna, LA.
