Fern Sensat Robertson

Fern Sensat Robertson at the age of 93 went home to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 9, 2015. She died peacefully surrounded by her family at West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, LA. In a little town called Egan, Louisiana, Fern was born and raised on a rice farm with 8 siblings. She headed out to New Orleans to attend nursing school at Charity Hospital. It was at that time she met her husband, Jonas H. Robertson, whom she was married to for 47 years until his death, June 1, 1992. They had 6 children, Mary Robertson Perkins (Kermit), Cheryl Robertson Trosclair (Darryl), Pastor Jonas J. Robertson (Ruth), Gerard J. Robertson (Tracy), Paul P. Robertson (Christine), and the late Stephen J. Robertson (Dianne). She is survived by 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. In her early years, Fern worked as a receptionist for the Mental Health Center of New Orleans for over 20 years. She then served as a secretary in The Church of Abundant Life, located in Harvey, Louisiana, where her son, Jonas, serves as pastor. There, she became the bookkeeper where she found her calling and remained there until the age of 91. Fern was a resident of Our Lady of Wisdom Health Center until her death. She made many wonderful friends who became her second family. The family would like to thank the staff for such excellent care of our mother. Services will be held at The Church of Abundant Life, 2301 Par 3 Drive, Harvey, Louisiana on Saturday, September 12, 2015. Public viewing will begin at 8am followed by a service at 11am. Fern will then be put to rest at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana. Her joy of life, her love of people, and her giving heart will be greatly missed.
