Floyd Anthony Gros Sr.

Floyd Anthony Gros, Sr., 65, of Westwego, LA took his last ride on August 29, 2016.
Floyd was born December 18, 1950 in New Orleans, LA to Eddie and Annie Gros. He served proudly in the United States Army and was a Proud Vietnam Veteran receiving the following awards: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and the Sharp Shooter Badge (Rifle M-16). He worked for Avondale Shipyards for over 40 years. He was involved with the VFW and has participated in many poker runs over the years for charity. Floyd is preceded in death by his father, Eddie Gros; his sister, Linda Gros; and his brother, Eddie Gros, Jr. Floyd is survived by his loving mother, Annie Gros; his devoted wife of 33 years, JoAnn Gros; his children Melinda, Timothy (DeAnne), Sherry (Zakai, Sr.), and Destiny; his grandchildren, Marissa, Zakai, Jr., Miranda, Shaelen, DeWayne, Isabella, and Gabriel; his brothers and sisters, Elsie Gros, Betty Leblanc (Louis), Alvin Gros (Sue), and Jimmy Gros (Jan); his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A special thanks to his cousin, Johnny Guillot, who took time away from his own family to spend almost every hour of every day so that Floyd was not alone when his wife or children could not be there; his nephew, A.J. Gros and niece Dawn Stevens, for their support and help during this difficult time. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 9 AM until 11 AM. The Funeral Mass will be held in the Chapel at 11 AM. Interment will be private.
