Floyd George Sutton

July 12, 1927 — October 29, 2014

Floyd George Sutton, a native of Algiers, La., and current resident of Belle Chasse, went to his heavenly reward on October 29, 2014 at age 87. He was the son of the late Everett and Nettie Lingoni Sutton and his late stepmother Marjorie Buras Sutton. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Breaux Sutton; his son, Randy J. Sutton and daughter-in-law Martha, his daughter, Dale Sutton Bucher and son-in-law Alex and daughter, Sandy Ann Sutton and her fiance Joseph Ursin. Brother of Janet Sutton Cartner, the late Everett Sutton, Geraldine Juneau and Betty Sutton. Mr. Sutton is also fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Alex Bucher Jr. (Becky), Bradley Bucher (Emily), Chelsea Bucher, Marc O. Sutton (Chere), Matthew J. Sutton, (Caroline) and Amanda S. Meche (Dane) and his great grandchildren, Evan and Adam Bucher and Bailey, Ashton and Mary Sutton. Mr. Sutton was a graduate of Behrman High School and attended Tulane University. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps Air Wing in China, just after World War II. He was a retired accountant for Texaco and also had a home based business for many years selling wedding invitations and accessories. Mr. Sutton was very active in his parish church, St. Julian Eymard as lector and Eucharistic Minister and as the coordinator of its program for religious instruction for youth. After St. Julian closed, he continued to serve the Church as an usher at St. Andrew the Apostle. He was active in the Holy Name Society for 50 years and was honored by the Society as “Man of the Year” for 1992-1993 and by the Archdiocese with the Order of St. Louis Medallion. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3101 Eton Street in Algiers on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
