Frances Amelia Gros Schouest

September 13, 1915 — July 27, 2016

Frances Amelia Gros Schouest of Harvey, Louisiana left this earth on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the age 100. She was the daughter of the late Hermine Coron Gros and Thompson Gros, Sr. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Edwigh J. Schouest, whom she met while singing in the St. Rosalie Catholic Church Choir; her son, Gary J. Schouest and siblings, Mildred Case, Bessie Macalusa, Iona Valee and Thompson Gros, Jr. Frances is survived by her son, Michael and daughter-in-law Diana and Gloria Schouest-Yantis. She was Nana to Grandsons, Michael Paul (Kim), Aaron (Lise), Shane (Stephanie) and Great Great Grandmother to Charlie, Michael Bryant, Suzanne, Oliver, Lydia, Caleb and Connor. In her young life she worked for Pinick and Ford with her father. Later she was a cafeteria manager for Harvey Elementary for many years and a lifelong parishioner of St. Rosalie Catholic Church. Frances enjoyed reading, cooking, playing cards, traveling with her Pokeno group and being with family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 10:30AM until 1:30PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 1:30PM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum, Westwego, LA.
