Frank Marion Buck, Sr. 91 years of age. His Sunrise was on 1-20-1933 and Sunset was on 7-29-1924. He was a resident of Abbeville, La and a native of Charenton, La.
Frank was a man with an extensive work history to support his large family. Throughout his life, he maintained a history that always had him in the maritime field. He started his career as a young man learning the shrimping and fishing trade. After serving his time in the U S ARMY, upon his discharge he went on to earn his licenses as a tugboat operator and later an owner of a small fleet of tugs. He continued with moving up to earn his Port Captain license with Tidewater Marine and State Boat. With his extensive marine history, he then earned the title of a Maritime Expert Witness. Thru his son Frank M Buck, Jr., he was installed into that position and held it until his retirement at the age of 79.
His love of being on the water in many different fields did not compare to his love of fishing. Even more than fishing, he loved frying and eating the fresh caught catfish every day. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Patterson, La., St. Bernadette Church in Bayou Vista, La. And St. Joachim Church in Marrero, La. He was an American Legion member from 1963 until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Buck Sr. and Ethel Livingston Millet and Buck Southwell; his wife of 59 years, Sylvia Orason Buck; his sons, Leonard E Wiggins, Jr., Darryl Ivan Buck, Frank M Buck Jr; one granddaughter, Alisha Elizabeth Cantu; his one son-in-law, Lester P Waguespack Jr. and his brothers, Uston Buck, Riley Buck, Hugh Millet, Warren Millet, and Johnny Millet.
He is survived by his two redheaded daughters, Ethel Buck Cantu and Elizabeth Buck Waguespack as well as his 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Graveside Service at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, Louisiana on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
