August 11, 1927 — March 9, 2015

Fred J. Thompson passed away on March 9, 2015 at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of Betty Juneau Thompson. Father of Cynthia Toups (Ronald) and Karen Bourgeois (Elwin). Grandfather of Bonnie, Aaron, Christopher Sr., Craig Sr. and Carla. Great-grandfather of Christopher Jr., Bryn, Hailey, Craig Jr., Grant and the late Katherine. Brother of Mildred Toncrey, Dorothy Jambon, the late Lawrence Thompson, Mae Thompson, Sidney Thompson Sr., Guy Thompson Sr. and Marie Woodson. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Fred served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for many years with Heebe’s Bakery in Gretna and later for Sunbeam Bakery in New Orleans and retired as a security officer for Oakwood Shopping Center. He was an usher for his Church and was a longtime member of the local Baker’s Union. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Egan Home Health and Hospice for their care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3601 Claire Avenue in Gretna on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 11 AM to 1 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow.
