And God whispered, “It’s Time.” Frederick Patrick Fitzhenry, Sr. entered into his heavenly home on Monday, February 25, 2013 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of 56 years to JoAnn Randolph Fitzhenry. Father of Fred Fitzhenry, Jr. (Claudia), Cathryn Fitzhenry Bender (Alan), Kevin Fitzhenry (Hollie) and Myrna Gaye Freeman (Calvin). Grandfather of 12, Rene Poche’, Jr. (Ashlie), Cory and Chad Bender, Bradley, Lance and Erin Fitzhenry, Hollie Marie, Heather and Ashley Fitzhenry, Brian and Garrett Freeman. Great grandfather of two also twin great grandbabies-to-be born in September. Also deeply missed by his devoted Rescue Boxer “Oscar” and his horse “Bullet.” Preceeded in death by his parents, Adele Smith and Joseph Fitzhenry, his brothers Lawrence and Joseph Fitzhenry, Jr. and his sister Josephine Fitzhenry Lea.
Mr. Fitzhenry was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired Teamster truck driver, and a retired member of the Gretna Chief’s Posse. He also coached football, baseball and served as a past Athletic Director at Avondale Playground. A native of Algiers, LA and a resident of Covington, LA.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette St., Algiers, LA on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 9 AM until 11:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will follow at Holy Name of Mary Church, corner of Verret and Alix Sts., Algiers, LA at NOON. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Tammany Parish Hospital for their compassion and care also R & R Home Care and Amedisys Home Health.
